Horse Rescue.
Race horses are bred for one specific reason — that is to win on the track. Breeders produce many horses which they nourish and groom to win at the derbies. Every horse is trained only to run fast on the track. If after several tries rose does not perform well, thus not showing a promising potential, the breeder will be trying to get rid of it to free the space and eve the forage for the better candidate.
This is where horse rescuers come in: they try to find a trainer to socialize the horse so it would be cooperative with different people and environment. The intention is to prepare a horse to be flexible , cooperative and patient for the new type of activities, like horseback riding.
I spend some time to photograph Jennifer Osborne of Fire and Ice Horse Training working with such a horse. It is an insightful experience of building a stable relationship of trust and discipline.
